The Chair of Friends of Midmar Paddock (“FMP”) has contacted the Grange Association.
You will probably know that Midmar Paddock is the field between Midmar Drive/Hermitage Drive and Blackford Hill/the Hermitage of Braid.
Many people think that Midmar Paddock is, like Blackford Hill and the Hermitage of Braid, owned by the City of Edinburgh Council (“CEC”), but it is privately owned.
The owners have been seeking to sell the land – the Strutt & Parker sale particulars for it have for some time shown “sale agreed”) – so Midmar Paddock is at risk of being purchased for development.
FMP is looking to submit to CEC a local place plan seeking to ensure that Midmar Paddock does remain unbuilt on publicly accessible open green space and retains in the Edinburgh City Plan 2040 the designations which Midmar Paddock has in the Edinburgh City Plan 2030 of green belt, a local nature conservation site, a special landscape area and open space.
FMP has “gone live” on the public consultation on the proposed Midmar Paddock local place plan – please read their flyer and consider responding.
