In 2022, Whitehouse & Grange Bowling Club celebrated its 150th Year in presenation of awardThe Grange. Trams were running along Hope Terrace when the club was founded in 1872. In preparation for our celebrations, the Club carried out major repairs to the front of the clubhouse (architect -Sir George Washington Browne-1912) and external repainting to restore the Clubhouse to its former glory. Some of the original timber was salvaged and made into two outside seating benches. Our philosophy, as well as providing opportunities for bowling, is to engage with the local community and to make our grounds a space for everyone to enjoy- bowlers and non-bowlers alike. With this in mind, over the last three years, the club volunteer garden force initiated many improvements to the grounds with replanting (in particular, the Rose Garden) and landscaping.

In recognition of these activities, the Club was presented with the Grange Award for 2024 at the recent Grange Association AGM. Some Grange Association members are also members for the bowling club but many others have either passed by the gate on Hope Terrace or were not aware of our existence before. Consequently, the Club invites members of the Grange Association to a special coffee morning for them on Saturday 13th April 10:00 -12:00 to see our Clubhouse and grounds and to meet members of the Club. We start our season again the following Saturday – 20th April.

If you are interested in joining the club, our first year subscription for new full members is only £80 and £20 for non-playing social members.

If you cannot make the coffee morning, you are most welcome to drop in at any time during the summer when the gate is open to watch some bowls or simply just enjoy sitting in our garden with some refreshments from our bar or a Luca’s ice cream and also attend our own Summer Fair -scheduled for Saturday 25th May ( i.e. the week following the Grange Fair)
