Hello, I have recently moved to Fountainhall Road and would be interested in hearing from other people in The Grange who would like to see increased adherence by drivers to the 20 MPH speed limit. I can’t say I have a list of quick or easy ways of encouraging this, but would be keen to meet others who feel the same way. Perhaps we could at least try and do something such as write to the ‘powers that be’ so they are aware that residents take an interest in this. Or perhaps there is someone or an organisation already working on it?
Following on from my email above, I was wondering if anyone had ever suggested looking into how the ‘entrances’ to The Grange (i.e. the streets leading in from the surrounding main roads and particularly the junctions) could be enhanced in some way? In order to try and reinforce the idea, even just subliminally, that this is a quiet residential area and we’d appreciate slow and careful drivers (and ideally only very limited through traffic). I’m not suggesting signs or anything intrusive like that, but maybe slightly wider pavements, benches, planting, an awareness campaign of some kind? It might even help people to feel more inclined to walk and cycle for short journeys rather than take the car.
