“There have been several incidents across the city where entry has been gained to properties via lock snapping – where weak Euro-profile cylinder lock barrels are snapped making doors insecure.
The leaflet here advises the best locks to fit to prevent these incidents.
For further information on locks or any other aspects of crime prevention please email the Edinburgh crime prevention team
If you see anyone acting suspiciously near to your property please contact the police immediately with as detailed a description as possible of any person or vehicle involved. Please call 999 if an emergency and urgent police assistance is required or 101 to report the matter to the police.”
