The challenge
“Most of the houses and tenement flats in the Marchmont and Sciennes area were built before 1919.
They are not easy to insulate and are difficult to make draught proof to the high standard now
required. Having inspected several buildings in the area, and talked with their owners, it is clear that
the cost and disruption required to achieve these high standards, will be a major obstacle in
achieving the net zero targets set by the Scottish Government.”
