“Review of Home and Vehicle Security –
As the seasons are changing it’s a good time to review home security, below are a few points to consider:

Home –

·         Check outside lights are working, located out of easy reach and orientated as required

·         If you have a house alarm use it at night and when you are out, if you have patio doors consider about vibration sensors

·         Use timer switches on lights so your home is not in darkness when you are out

·         Fit key operated windows locks – but don’t leave the keys in them!

·         Check doors are secured by British Standard 5 lever mortice locks or multi point locks – do not depend on a single Yale style rim lock to secure a door. Make sure any Euro profile locks are anti-snap rated TS 007

·         Fit a letter box guard / brushes and do not leave keys / bags near / behind doors

Vehicle –

·         If you have a keyless entry car store the keys in a Faraday pouch / tin

·         Do not leave any keys close to windows or doors

·         Use a steering wheel lock

·         Consider fitting parking bollards on driveways

Your dealership should be able to assist with the following, if required:

·         Switch off the ‘keyless’ facility on the fob, so it does not emit any signal

·         Consider fitting a tracker or immobiliser

·         Consider fitting an On Board Diagnostic (OBD) port lock
