This is a very useful leaflet produced by the Council to explain how gullies get blocked, the different kind of blockages, what can be done and how to report them.
It’s useful for the leaf clearing teams !
I thought I’d resurrect this. After fantastic work again by the leaf-clearing teams, the area is more or less devoid of leaves in gutters and on pavements. There are still some bad areas – the pavement in one section of Findhorn Place, and one or two streets.
The Council do respond to reports of blocked sivers/drains – not immediately, obviously, but within reasonable timescales. I guess they’d rather have several in one area at a time too.
You use this “Report a gully problem” page. Follow the fairly simple tick-boxes, and use the location map to say which one is blocked.
You can give an email address so that they can update you when the job is completed.
With the recent very heavy rain and the remaining leaves getting washed down, there are still blockages – and one blockage can lead to a flood further down the hill or on a corner.
Their machinery will sook out stones etc on even the most blocked drain, and get things to flow again. Don’t hesitate to report drains which seem completely blocked with stones.
I’ve even reported blockages on my mobile when out walking.
