When they renewed the surface in St Albans Road, they used the wrong material, I believe. It was suitable for a street with more traffic on it, when the wee stones would have sunk into the surface, whilst it was still a bit soft. That’s more or less what the contractor said to me.
However they didn’t think about the residents’ cars, which returned hours later!
I’m fed up with the wee stones, as they stick to soles, come into the house, jam under our front door, then in time they will all end up down the street sivers!
I think some of us at least should shovel them up and put them in grey bins. If you live there, why not just do your own “patch”?
They will be there forever otherwise!

“The material used was a micro-asphalt thin surfacing which is used to address minor carriageway defects and seal the surface to prevent water penetrating the underlying road surface. It is a preventative treatment used to extend the life of a road by slowing deterioration.
Loose chippings are a normal part of the process, particularly in parking areas that are not subject to the regular passage of vehicle, and the contractor will always undertake follow-up sweeping in the weeks following the laying of the material, and it is not uncommon to find further chippings being shed beyond that time.
I have instructed our contractor, Keily Bros. Ltd, to arrange for a further sweep to be undertaken and to check the gullies for any loose chippings and this should be carried out in the next few weeks.”
I pointed out that the road was resurfaced in ’23/24 but no sweep was done by the contractor since then.
I am also still asking why the road surface was redone by such a different (and in my view worse) process to the others.

Even at the weekend there are quite a lot of parked cars, but I did suggest they did do it then.
There are still quite a lot but a lot less than before.
