I hear that the Royal Mail is looking to shut the caller’s office soon – in a couple of months … after which there will be no more collecting parcels from Strathearn Road sorting office.
There will apparently be an automatic next day delivery attempt then you have the option of requesting a redelivery or have it delivered to a Post Office.
I guess it will be announced, with dates, soon.
This is not to do with the Christmas backlog – and I don’t know any more!
If this is true, it is really bad news. But not surprising.
Could I ask where you heard about this? It’s not that I’m doubting the source, but I would like to keep an eye on the situation.

Sorry but I can’t say, Mike …
Updated
OK. We’ll look out for an announcement.

That’s a real shame. When this was mooted previously, the closest sorting office was at Cameron Toll.
Royal Mail are in consultation (with who exactly I’m unsure) about Delivery Office Closures to customers. Across the UK they hope to close around 45% of Callers Office. There has not been a definitive answer about South DO on Strathearn Rd being closed permanently. Shall keep you updated.
