The local campaign group Tram Trains for Edinburgh are holding a public meeting to discuss their campaign on 23rd April 2026. Please see below a message from Rob Falcon, Chair of Tram Trains Edinburgh, which gives full details of the event and how to register your attendance. 
Reopen the South Sub: Tram Trains for Edinburgh Public Meeting – 19.30, 23rd April, Nucleus Building, Kings Buildings, EH9 3FG
Local campaign group Tram Trains for Edinburgh proposes reopening the South Suburban railway through Morningside, Newington and Cameron Toll – out East to Portobello and West to Murrayfield, for the airport and city centre. The scheme would provide a fast and efficient service on the existing line – so with lower costs and less disruption than similar plans – and is gaining strong support with the public and transport professionals.
